Testimonials
To Daniel Sanchez-Torres, I’m not sure where this manuscript would be without you (perhaps still on my computer).
Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, author of “The Unseen Truth: When Race Changes Sight in America,” published by Harvard University Press.
It was vital that I get the characters and story right, and I completely trusted Daniel to guide me in the right direction. His keen editorial insight, empathy, and attention to detail were invaluable. He was thorough, timely, and professional. I would recommend his services to anyone looking to strengthen their work, and especially to people who care deeply about authenticity.”
Jen St. Jude, author of “If Tomorrow Doesn’t Come,” published by Bloomsbury (US) and Penguin Random House (UK).
Daniel provided an incredibly close read of my manuscript and offered insights into my own writing I hadn't been able to detect. Draft after draft, I still felt like there was something in my manuscript I couldn't identify. Daniel's valuable critiques have given me a surge of confidence to make my final draft stronger than it was. If there was a Daniel the Editor fan club, I'd be president.
Christopher R. Alonso, writer who’s work has appeared in Guernica, The Rejoinder, and Catapult, among others.
So how does this work?
I work with writers in two capacities:
-Developmental Editing-
Best for pieces under 9000 words.
For fiction pieces, I look at structure and flow, character development and style and provide feedback to refine your fiction piece.
For nonfiction pieces, I look at overall argument and evidence and engagement with fields and key concepts. I help you make sure you have a clear and compelling through-line tying the piece together.
You get from me:
An editorial report with overall big-picture feedback and revision notes
In-text comments and line edits
One editorial call to discuss feedback and help you formulate your next-step plan, which can include continuing to work together to develop the text
-Book Manuscript Review-
Best for completed drafts or unrevised dissertations.
I will provide feedback on what’s working and not working in terms of structure, argument and evidence, key concepts, through-lines and flow.
